I was gifted a Bodum Travel Mug/ a handy little travel mug with built is plunger, so it can be used for coffee and loose leaf tea on the go. It’s so handy and whilst the Intrepid Household are currently fighting off Coughs and Colds, here is my latest recipe for an anti inflammatory, immune boosting drink to keep you on track on your journey. And it’s so tasty, I will be keeping drinking it even when the colds have passed.
300ml freshly boiled water (keep those fluids up)
1tsp tumeric (the wonder anti inflammatory spice)-or fresh if available
I was unsure when I began cooking with tumeric, if the flavour would be overpowering, but it provides a delicious kick along with fabulous health benefits, so my advice would be get on the tumeric train ASAP.
1tsp ground cinnamon (great for regulating blood sugar as well as being anti inflammatory and antibacterial )
squeeze of lemon (for vitamin C)
1 generous tsp Manuka honey (antibacterial, can help promote sleep, and help alleviate symptoms of hay fever and allergies)
thumb of ginger (organic when poss) crushed (another wonder ingredient, can help with nausea, travel sickness, muscles aches, it is anti inflammatory, anti bacterial and delicious!)
Ps. One study has suggested that tumeric is more beneficial when ingested with fat, so either add a half tsp of coconut oil to the tea, or find some chocolate stat.
